Action alert: On February 27th a coalition of survivors, religious and community leaders, and activists will be travelling to Albany to lobby on behalf of the Child Victims Act (CVA).
New York has one of the strictest statute of limitations laws for child sex abuse in the nation. Children in NY who were sexually abused only have until the age of 23 to come forward or their abusers will face no legal consequences.
Uri L’tzedek has been working for a number of years now to support legislation to lengthen the statute of limitations. Unfortunately, this bill has been stuck in the state senate and we are going to lobby our state senators for a vote on the CVA! If you are able to take the day off and come to Albany, please come join us!
And even if you cannot make it to Albany please write to and call your state senators asking them to demand that Senate Speaker John Flanagan bring the CVA to a vote!
