Kavod HaBriyot Mobile Shower Project
Our Kavod HaBriot project brings showers to asylum seekers and the homeless community. Our truck and mobile unit has two private shower stalls, private bathrooms, sinks, mirrors, and changing areas. While supporting asylum seekers with showers, we provide emergency aid kit bags that include hygiene materials to support them on the next stages of their journeys. In addition to providing showers, our project also offers various other services and resources to individuals experiencing homelessness. These include clothing, food, care kits, job search assistance, and referrals to other local organizations that can provide additional support.
We learn the value of washing others and hospitality (hachnasat orchim) from Avraham who provides water to strangers to wash their feet (Genesis 18:4).
For the sake of one’s Maker: to honor one’s maker, as it is written (Gen. 9:6) “For people were made in the image of G-d.” In addition, when others see a clean person they will say “Blessed Be the Lord who created this in G-d’s world.
For all people, created in the image of G-d, to be clean is to be blessed! Let’s spread blessings together! (Babylonian Talmud, Shabbat 50a)
“Do not despise any person and do not discriminate against anything, for there is no person that has not his hour, and there is no thing that has not its place.” – Pirkei Avot 4:3
