Obtaining the
Tav HaYosher Kavod Award

Owner Meeting: Owner and Representative

In this 5-10 minute meeting, the Tav HaYosher Representative will get to know you and will learn about your restaurant, your clientele, the kind of environment you’re trying to create, and how Uri L’Tzedek can support your restaurant through our promotions, catered events, and more.

Employee Meetings: Employees and Representative

The Tav HaYosher Representative will meet with restaurant employees to verify that the establishment is upholding their commitment to fair pay, fair time, and a fair and safe work environment, as outlined by the Tav HaYosher Ethical Seal Standards. All conversations will be confidential.

If desired, the compliance officer can provide restaurant employees with resources on government and nonprofit services such as health care, accounting, job training, immigration assistance, and more.

Awarding of the Tav HaYosher Kavod Award

If our standards are met, your establishment will be certified with the Tav HaYosher Kavod Award.

Yearly Standards Checks

A Tav HaYosher representative will reach out to the owner of your establishment on an approximately yearly basis. They will schedule 5-10 minute meetings with you and your employees during off-peak hours. During these meetings, compliance officers will ensure ongoing compliance with the Tav HaYosher Ethical Seal standards.

In the unexpected and uncommon case that a formerly-certified establishment is no longer in compliance with the Tav HaYosher Kavod Award standards, the award will be revoked.

Confidentiality

Our entire process is confidential. Whether or not an establishment obtains our certification, details about a business are never released to competitors, media, or government agencies.
